Brazil Canastra Farm

Brazil Canastra Farm

Owned and managed by producer Edson Luis Mineiro, the Canastra farm stands out in the region due to its privileged location on fertile land, abundant water, climate, altitudes above 1200 metres, care for the local fauna and flora, modern structure, use of new technologies and sustainable practices. 50% of the farm's current area is native vegetation. There is a focus on planting native trees, protecting the springs and rivers that pass through the farm, and using organic compost.
The fauna is extremely rich, including emblematic species of the Cerrado such as the maned wolf, the giant anteater and various birds such as the Brazilian Merganser. The presence of these animals helps in the natural control of pests, reducing the need for pesticides and promoting more sustainable agriculture, as well as indicating the harmony between local biodiversity and the coffee plantation.
The soil of the Serra da Canastra is rich in nutrients, the result of the decomposition of rocks and minerals over time. These soil characteristics provide coffee plants with the nutrients needed for healthy growth and good fruit quality, as well as allowing for adequate water retention.
